Pool Equipment

You pool equipment pad is the heart of your swimming pool.  Pools take three things to keep it clean, blue and safe to swim; Flow, Filtration, and Water Chemistry.  Your equipment pad is going to provide these important features for your plus more.  Below is a list of items found on a typical equipment pad and what each on is responsible for.

Swimming Pool Pump

The pump is made up of a wet end and dry end.  The wet end pulls in dirty water in from your main drain and skimmers, pre-filters this water with a hair and lint basket and pushes the water out the top to the filter.  The wet end has an impeller that spins at a high rpm inside the pump housing.  The impeller is what physically grabs the water and slings it out the top of the pump.  The dry end of the pump does not come in contact with the pool water.  It is a motor and seal, and it is what spins the impeller.

Swimming Pool Filter

Their are several types of filters, DE, Cartride, or Sand.  Each filter has one job, to pass water by a filter media that is designed to capture the dirt.  Each filter has its pros and cons and all will have to be clean periodically via a backwash.  After the water has been filtered it is ready to start heading back towards the pool.

Swimming Pool Heater / Heat Pump

Before the water heads back to the pool via the returns, it can pass by a few different units.  The first would be a heater or heat pump, both of which would raise the water temperature.  High water temperatures mean that you and your family can extend your swimming season.
