For the past few weeks, PHTA has been focused on the COVID-19 outbreak and its potential impact to our members. Many of you have reached out to us for guidance on what to communicate to your customers about whether COVID-19 could be transmitted in pools and hot tubs. Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released official guidance regarding this issue.
According to the CDC, there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.
This guidance and other water-related guidance can be found here.
Additionally, PHTA has created a web page where you can find:
– General information on COVID-19
– Safeguarding your workplace
– For potential mandated quarantines
– Understanding potential HR issues
